About the Event

One of the three greatest masters of the Dutch Golden Age Vermeer above all others seems to speak to our contemporary aesthetics. When the National Gallery in Washington held their Johannes Vermeer exhibition in 1995, 300.000 people endured blizzards while joining a line which went around the entire block, to get their tickets. The recent exhibition at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam crashed their website within minutes of the ticket sales opening, with no more tickets within 24 hours of the announcement made.

Join Mariska Beekenkamp-Wladimiroff for this online webinar as we introduce the live and work of this unique artist. Learn how there is more to Vermeer than his tranquil, peaceful, still and meditative genre paintings.

this virtual journey on the artist Johannes Vermeer will include:

· Information on who Vermeer was, where he lived and what he did

· Historical, religious and socio-economic background on the 17th century city of Delft

· The influence on his work by other artists

· His unique brush strokes and modus operandus

· His range of topics

· The importance of the women in his life, including his main patron

· The legacy of Vermeer

Please note you will be re-directed to the New York Adventure Club webpage for booking. Booking will go life 3 weeks before the start of the talks/course. Payment can be done in any currency.
