About the Event
In partnership with Linden House Social Calendar we will be diving into some of the world's greatest artworks, which are right here in London and can be visited free of charge. Learn about who made them, where and why, but also gain access into what makes these works special, different and what to look out for!
This month we will be looking at a jolly portrait of a cavalier, which is actually not a portrait nor a cavalier! To coincide with the much anticipated exhibition of the Dutch 17th century artist Frans Hals in the National Gallery this summer, we will give you insight and background on who made this painting and why, and about Holland and their love for the funny and ordinary human condition!
In a room full of amazing paintings at the Wallace Collection in London, most people are captured by the twinkling eyes of the Laughing Cavalier and taken aback by the confident, thick loose brushstrokes which bring him to life even more. What does he have in common with the Girl with the Pearl Earring by Vermeer, or Impressionist painters like Monet? Join to find out!
