Medieval Monasteries of Northern Moldovia (Romania)

Please join Romanian native Bogdan Cornea for the first lecture in his series of three exploring  the medieval monasteries of northern Moldovia (Romania) which he filmed especially for Art Historical London.

Built from the late 15th to the late 16th century in a style that make use of Gothic and Byzantine elements, these churches are exceptional for their murals that cover the inside as well as the outside of buildings. Their elegant artistry is beautifully framed by the surrounding countryside draped in autumn's rich colouring.

The footage is pre-recorded, but Bogdan will narrate the filmed images in real time, making it possible for him to answer any questions from the audience.
