Beginning in the Low Countries, we will marvel at the masterworks of famed painters Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, Anthony van Dyck, Peter Paul Rubens and Frans Hals, alongside lesser-known gems by Govaert Flinck and Jan Steen, enjoying the humour and pathos of scenes of everyday life alongside aristocratic portraiture.

    Saturday 11/7/20: France

Next we will enter France, to experience the joie de vivre of Francois Boucher's mythologies, the neoclassical cool of Nicolas Poussin and the joyous curves of rococo furniture and sculpture and of course, world famous Sevres porcelain.

    Saturday 18/7/20: Spain and Italy

The third week will focus on Spain and Italy, taking in Canaletto's views of Venice, Diego Velázquez's portraiture, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo's biblical narratives, Alonso Cano's counterreformation visions and Renaissance majolica.

    Saturday 25/7/20: Britain

Finally, we will arrive back in Britain, where we will gaze upon the cream of eighteenth century portraiture and admire Elizabethan armours, and enter into the nineteenth century world of the most famous art lovers of the Victorian age, the Seymour Conways, founders of the Wallace Collection.
