Henry Moore: Drawing the War (27/3/20)

This lecture explores the drawing practice of artist Henry Moore, placing particular focus on his drawings from World War II.

Although Moore is best known as a sculptor, he was a prolific draughtsman and believed drawing to be central to his art practice and understanding of the natural world. This talk will provide a general introduction to Moore’s use of drawing before focusing in on his famous ‘Shelter Series’ made during London’s Blitz.
