A touching detail in Venice

For those of you who joined our online tours with Venice guide Luisella Romeo will remember her incredible knowledge of the city and its history. One detail on one of her tours has stood out for me as something I want to revisit in person when there:

The story of a woman and a man who fall in love, court, get married, become lovers, have a baby, the baby grows into a little boy and then the boy sadly dies. It is a touching story carved on one of the columns on the Doge's Palace on the Piazetta San Marco.

Count the 7th column on your right coming from the water, towards the St Marco Basilica.
