About the Event
To coincide with a major solo exhibition on the work of British artist Anish Kapoor (b.1954, Mumbai) at the Hayward Gallery (16 June – 18 October 2026), curator and writer Clare Farrow will be talking about the artist’s interests and themes, in particular his focus on the playful, psychological effects of colour.
Through large-scale paintings and sculptures, he experiments with space, reflections, perception, and human experience, drawing on his own heritage, and the sheer visceral power of pigment on the senses.
Clare first interviewed Anish Kapoor in 1993, when she was compiling and writing a publication on ‘Art, Dance and Music’. At the time, she visited his studio in south London where he was also designing a stage set for dance performances. Now, she assesses his work and career, 30 years on from that first meeting.
