Mariska combines an interdisciplinary academic background with international entrepreneurial success in the arts and education sector. She holds two Master’s degrees across distinct disciplines — first in Social Psychology from the University of Amsterdam, where she specialised in Decision-Making Behaviour and was encouraged to pursue doctoral research, and later an MA in Art History from the Courtauld Institute of Art, one of the world’s leading centres for the study of art history.
Mariska completed her second MA as a mature student while raising three children, driven by her love for art, history and culture. Her specialist focus on 17th-century Dutch Baroque art has since become the foundation of an internationally recognised teaching and cultural programme.
Following an early career in lecturing, Mariska went on to found and lead two companies across two countries, building an international platform with a multi country reach in arts education and cultural programming. Through Art Historical London, Art and Culture Key, and her broader international initiatives, she has developed and delivered lectures, museum programmes, cultural tours, educational travel, online courses, and bespoke events for audiences across Europe, North America, Australia, and New Zealand.
Since 2020, Mariska has successfully expanded her programmes into the digital sphere, creating live and recorded online events that connect global audiences with art historical scholarship and cultural institutions. Her work bridges academic expertise with public engagement, making specialist knowledge accessible to diverse international audiences.
Mariska is fully PTLLS accredited in the UK to teach post-16 education and lectures regularly for organisations including The Arts Society, the New York Adventure Club, and the public programme of museums like the Foundling Museum in London. She has lectured internationally throughout the UK, mainland Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
She has also served as a visiting lecturer for institutions and organisations including the London Art History Society, the Royal Academy, Orleans House Gallery, The Law Society Art Group, the Anglo-Dutch Society, the Timken Museum of Art, The Hurlingham Club, and 92NY, among many others.
Together with her team of art historians, Blue Badge Guides, and administrators, Mariska continues to design and present high-level cultural and educational programming for institutions, organisations, and private clients worldwide, combining scholarly depth with entrepreneurial leadership and a strong commitment to public education.
