Join us for this two part series which traces the importance of France in the look of Western art produced in the 18th and early 19th century.

From royal patronage and the importance of the women of Versailles, to the new revolutionaries and the rise of Napoleon, these talks will cover what influenced the change in styles and which patrons and artists played an important role in this.

During each lecture we will show case art works which are examples of the greatest works of art in the Western art tradition from this period. We will look at how to recognize the styles and appreciate what makes it special.
