About the Event
Betye Saar's 1969 sculpture 'Black Girl's Window' shows a complex and eerie self-portrait of the artist assembled from materials she had found and collected over her life. The paintings and collages in each panel represent different facets of Saar's life, and the girl with her hands pressed against the window is a deeply personal, powerful depiction of the artist. In this lecture, Saar's use of colour, space, memory, and material will be looked at, along with the different interpretations of her first great masterpiece.
Upon booking you will receive an automated email with more information on how to enjoy the talk.
