About the Event
Soho Square has always been a place of interest ever since it was first developed in the early C17th. From hunting grounds to an estate of fine houses, a mix of gentry and artisans, a mix of shop, warehouses and factories, as well as the fashionable club land of C18th which continues unabated in the area. The Square is of particular interest when you begin to discover the number of artists who came to call it home or found their inspiration here.
A walk around the Square will reveal much including the identity of the ‘Blue Boy’. You will also hear about a young lad who began his artistic career by selling his watercolours locally plus an introduction to some of the many famous characters that frequented or lived in or around Soho Square. At the end of the walk you will be introduced to a brand-new work all about Soho by a contemporary artist, and will let you into the secret of its whereabouts!
We will meet at 11am by the Tudor Style Gardener's Hut in the middle of Soho Square.
Please wear a mask and follow social distancing protocol. The group will be a max of 6 people plus the guide Tina Baxter who has been fully vaccinated and will be wearing a visor.
Please note that tickets are only valid on the date selected, non-refundable and non-exchangeable.
On booking or confirming your place on a walk we will send you an e-mail confirming specific instructions for the meeting point, the location of the first stop on the walk and Tina's mobile number (if you have not received this within 24 hours of the walk please contact Art Historical London).
If you are running late, please inform your guide by telephone or text as soon as you can.
Unless the weather conditions are really extreme (and we’re talking “don’t go outdoors” weather warning extreme here) or there is some kind of catastrophic transport failure your guide will be there at the meeting point at the appointed time. Please wrap up warm even on a sunny day as the by ways of the City can be rather chilly.
Please bring your walking shoes, and remember that the walk may include uneven surfaces and climbing of some stairs.
