About the Event

Ranked by John Singer Sargent himself as one of his best works, he displayed it in his studio in London until the end. Experimental, unusual, original and radical it was not one of the usual polite socialites he was commissioned to paint, or the pleasant watercolours of his friends and travels. This was something that both the ambitious American artist and the eager American socialite were hoping would launch their fame. Join us to learn about how the story unravelled.
