About the Event
The “scuole” were lay associations in ancient Venice until the fall of the Doges in 1797. Their mission was to provide social assistance, but they soon became financial institutions reinvesting the bequests and donations in real estate and art. We will visit the last of the “scuole” to have opened in Venice, the one dedicated to St Mary of the Carmel. Spectacular stuccoes, gildings and paintings by Giambattista Tiepolo and more artists even of the 17th century will welcome us. After touring the scuola, we will move to lively square of campo Santa Margherita, near the different university colleges of Venice for a grand finale.
