About the Event
How do you tell a story with thread? Step into the world of the Bayeux Tapestry, one of the Middle Ages’ most extraordinary surviving works of art. This richly embroidered account of the Norman Conquest is packed with battles, betrayals, ships, feasts and curious details. This talk explores how the tapestry was made, what it tells us about power and propaganda, and why its story still captivates us nearly 1,000 years later.
NB For the first time in nearly 1,000 years, the 70-meter-long Bayeux Tapestry has returned to England. On loan from France, it will be exhibited at the British Museum in London from September 10, 2026, to July 11, 2027, while its permanent home in Normandy undergoes renovations.
