About the Event
Please join Alan Read to learn more about the persona of Picasso and the current exhibition at Tate Modern (17 September 2025 – 12 April 2026).
Picasso painted ‘The Three Dancers’ one hundred years ago and Tate Modern has taken this anniversary to stage ‘Theatre Picasso’, an exhibition which looks at how ‘performance’ was central to the artist’s practice. Described as ‘a playful choreography of Picasso artworks in a theatre space’ this lecture will explain some of those ideas before taking a more conventional art-historical approach to look at some of the works in the exhibition. Virtually all of Tate’s Picassos are on show and this is an exceptional opportunity to consider the work of the most important painter of the twentieth century.
Upon booking you will receive an automated email with instructions on how to join.
